Only two experiences with this Home Depot; both negative. The first - I bought CO detectors for our home - when I got home, I realized one of the packages had been opened and resealed. I plugged it in - yup, the CO detector returned a code for a defective sensor. So I had to return to exchange. Clearly, someone had already returned the CO detector for being defective, and some uncaring/careless employee had sealed the packaging back up with tape, and rehung it on the display.
2 - This spring I wanted to rent a brush mower to mow our field. I called Home Depot - yup, they have brush mowers - however, they don't reserve equipment rentals. It's first come first serve. I couldn't even fully PAY for a rental over the phone with my credit card either. Yeah, I really want to hook up my landscaping trailer on a Saturday, drive 6 miles to the store, and potentially find out there's no mower to rent. I called Tool Time rental in Highland and they were happy to reserve a mower for me, which I picked up the next day. Terrible way to do business!
Will not purchase any items that need to be delivered from Home Depot. The company they use do NOT verify delivery addresses and when they can't find your home the delivery person does NOT call you. They call their headquarters who in turn call you and give you 15 minutes to call back, however you wait for the first available operator for well beyond 15 minutes. When I did get a hold of someone they couldn't get a hold of the driver...I found out from the Home Depot Manager it was because he was already back at the warehouse in Detroit. It takes more time to get to Detroit from where I live then I was on the phone. So, that tells me the driver did not wait the 30 minutes that I was told that he waited. Now I have to take a day off of work and hope that they get it right.
Won't be recommending Home Depot to friends, family or co-workers.
Purchased new wood flooring. Staff helpful. Bought 24 boxes that they helped load. This is the second time we have purchased flooring and have been satisfied with previous purchases.
I hope a manager sees this. There is a chronic problem with all Home Depots I have ever visited. This HD just happens to be the one I visit most often. One can never seem to find anyone in the aisles to help find anything or ask a question. There is a surplus of help during the Christmas season, but they are all busy "booping" inventory with their little phone jobbies. I spent 20 minutes in this store today looking up & down the aisles for something, standing right next to multiple "Boopers". Not a one stopped to ask me if I needed help finding something. The only person to stop me & talk was the lady trying to sell whole house generators. Please train your employees to identify customers who are looking for something & ask them if they need help finding something. Don't ask, "How ya doin'?" I'm doing fine. I need help finding something. I would much rather tell 10 employees, "No, thank you" than spend 20 minutes searching & frustrated.
In & out was my goal, as I needed more dirt for my garden and daylight was slipping away. With the help of a wonderful employee named Erika, I was done in record time! She found a cardboard liner for the cart so the moisture from the afternoon's rain wouldn't transfer to my car, then she helped my load my cart, whisked me through checkout quickly and even accompanied me to my car and loaded my ten bags of garden soil into my trunk for me. Very happy with this outstanding customer service - thanks!
